Gospel Principles

As you may have noticed, I've been less-than diligent with my original blog idea (bad llama), but I've got another idea that I want to try.

Recently I've been thinking that I want to go "back to basics" and just relearn the basic principles of the gospel.  So, I'm going to read the Gospel Principles book and really think about what I'm reading.  I think I'll record some of my thoughts and such on here.

Chapter One:  Our Heavenly Father

"All things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all the things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."

"Everything that He does is to help His children become like Him."

I love the idea of "going back to the basics". This really hit home for me, personally, when I was called just a few months ago to be the Gospel Principles Teacher in my ward. I have had the opportunity to really get down to the big, broad, very important aspects of what being an LDS member means. I am learning (and loving it..) that I must think of my students as children. In the Spokane area, the church is booming. Since being called, I have participated in 4 baptisms. It is very exciting. And it is exciting to be apart of these people's learning. There are so many aspects--like family, or who our Father in Heaven is--that they have never considered before.

Heavenly Father--

Looking around, it is hard to imagine that the world just happened. Or a big bang caused all this beauty and aligned things into perfect form. All things do denote that there is a God. There is no denying it.

On your second quote "everything He does is to help His children become like Him", it makes me think of those people that ridicule us and think we are crazy because "one day Mormons think they will be gods.." I don't know about you..but that makes me excited to think that I can become like God. Heavenly Father WANTS that for His children.
